5th September – The end of the Great Fire of London! Only 6 people were known to have died.
13th September – 100th Anniversary of Roald Dahl’s Birth.
14th October – It has been 950 years since the Battle of Hastings! Learn more all about the historical battle through our Topic Pack – KS3/CE Battle of Hastings.
17th October – 60 years ago the first commercial nuclear power station was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in Seallfield in Cumbria, England.
28th October – 800 years since Henry III was crowned.
18th November – 100 years since the Battle of Somes ended.
4th December – 225 years ago the first edition of The Observer, the world’s first Sunday newspaper was published.
7th December – 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbour.
17th December – It’s been 10 years since a tornado struck Kensal Green in North West London, seriously damaging about 150 properties.
